I know Megzy from studying music at uni, and had the pleasure of working with him on a few tracks. I've been reading Megzy's Gibberish, and as a more rock-orientated musician I wanted to let him (and you) know about the t-shirts of Strokes front man, Julian Casablancas.

The Strokes broke through with their debut album Is This It in 2001, with songs like Someday and Last Nite, they're still highly respected today.

But I always find it refreshing that he doesn't dress up like your typical indie boy.

Here's my number 3, Red Stripe tee. These seem to be hard to find online, but there are Red Stripe tees to be found at http://www.teeshirtsrock.com/vintageredstripebeert-shirt.aspx

Number 2 - MJ. What a legend. There are also lots of MJ shirts here, including even a replica of that legendary red jacket - http://www.chasingthefrog.com/michaeljackson-t-shirts.php

Number 1 - Absolutely love this one. So simple but retro and awesome. You can buy this shirt here: http://www.cool-retro-tshirts.co.uk/tshirt.php?id=glow-in-the-dark-ghostbusters-t-shirt and they also have a grrreat range of Ghostbuster shirts.

I reckon its just good to see someone who wears what they want, not a band who dress up in identical colours or indie boy stripes. Nothing wrong with just putting your personality across sometimes and people sometimes try to conform too much in indie at the moment.

I have admired Johnny Cupcakes for a long long time now, I have looked into buying numerous shirts and it just never seems to happen as I believe they are a little too expensive at the best of times. His designs are always brilliant, just never worth paying sooo much for in my opinion. This hasn't stopped me admiring his work and this is the fitted release I have been waiting for. These are both available at www.JohnnyCupcakes.com and in the flagship store now.

The question on everyones lips I am sure. "Where does Thomas 'Megzy' Merrigan get his extraordinary glasses from?" Well today you will know. I am not too sure I should be running this story as it is a closely guarded secret of mine, I actually get nearly all of my pairs for less then £15. I bought my first pair of clear lens glasses on ebay for around £10. The quality was poor and the Wayfarers fell apart within a matter of weeks and started peeling plastic flakes within days. I was determined to find a cheap pair that were high quality, so I shopped around and found arguably the best possible store for clear lens glasses online. 80s Purple is an online boutique that stock designer and street wear apparel. With a range including Rebel 8 and Obey, it was only a matter of time until I ran into them online.

Their range of 80s glasses are cheap and average at just $10, I have bought all of my pairs from them in the last 6 months and was pleasantly surprised to find that their quality is stunning. My signature pair are the Flat Top Wayfarer for just $10. They ship very quickly and considering they come from California the glasses tend to arrive within a few days and come with their own cleaning pouch.

I have bought 2 pairs of Flat tops from them in the last 6 months, I didn't need another pair because the first broke, I needed another pair because I lost the first ones. Check out their collection at http://www.80spurple.com/shop/category/5908/clear-lens and pick up a pair today.

I urge you to not get the flat tops though please...they are for my eyes only :-P

It has been more then popular to create your own baseball team logos and whack um on some New Era caps this year. I have covered 2 bigger brands that have done exactly that this year and i feel that these under dogs Zephyr have done a damn good job of these too.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Zephyr are relatively new to me and I have only seen the name once or twice
on geeky fitted hat blogs before now. They released a few of the caps from this
series earlier in the year in Canada and had been such a success that now
they have made new designs and started getting more and more attention from
spectacle sporting hat geeks like myself. The colors here are phenomenal and
I have never seen hotter colors then my top pic here.

So finally I am writing our new brand of the months first section. Rebel 8 have been my most worn brand for a long time now. I own 3 hats numerous t-shirts and used to have a pair of Sk8 highs from their collaboration with Vans. When people say to me what are you wearing? 9 times out of 10 the answer is Rebel 8. Any way, enough brown nosing here is a run down of what they do.

R8 is the handy work of Mike Giant and Joshy D. They have been running since 2003 and the story, as they so poetically put it on there website www.rebel8.com, goes a little something like this;

"Joshy D. and Mike Giant met in the late 1990’s in San Francisco’s then bustling graffiti scene.

Josh ran the popular graffiti website, HiFiArt, and Mike was one of the city’s most notorious writers. Years later, and having had some experience with a previous clothing venture, Josh approached Mike about creating a handful of t-shirt graphics. Mike agreed, and with $500 a small batch of shirts was made. Josh sold those shirts out of a messenger bag around the city, and REBEL8 was born."

Mike’s art has been displayed in galleries all over the world and is now being worn by all kinds of people from Hip Hop to Metal fans. They released a big (you might say Giant, mwahahah!) collaboration with Vans, simply entitled “The Mike Giant Pack”. They collaborated on a range of trainers and t-shirts that were available in vans stores everywhere.

They have since had a few more interesting collaborations, with brands such as Benny Gold and most recently Morning Breath. They have just released their Winter season and the gear is doper then ever. With high quality jackets and now leather New Era hats they have really stepped their game up.

So that’s a brief look at our brand of the month, I am very proud to say that Joshy D has agreed to answer a few short questions for Megzy’s Gibberish and I will covering all new developments at the Rebel 8 camp.

I found this article being run over at Sneaker Freaker about a short film made by 3 french film students. "Sigg Jones" is a beautiful animated short film that has fight scenes rivaling high end Manga productions and kicks that will make your mouth water. Watch it over here at http://www.siggjones.com and see if you can name those kicks!
